County Fact Sheets
Montana Counties Benefit from Medicaid Expansion
Presented by the Montana Budget & Policy Center (last updated September 2024)
In 2015, the Legislature passed the bipartisan Health and Economic Livelihood Partnership (HELP) Act to expand Medicaid to adults living below 138 percent of the federal poverty line. The program (also known as “Medicaid expansion”) was reauthorized in 2019. In 2025, legislators must act to ensure adult Montanans living on low incomes do not lose their access to health care.
Tens of thousands of Montanans have benefited from the lifesaving and affordable medical care that Medicaid has provided. Montana’s Medicaid program has strengthened our health care system, supported businesses, and boosted our economy while caring for our friends and neighbors. These fact sheets provide county specific enrollment, preventive services, and business support for all 56 counties in the state.
